This will make it easier for the following tools such as Vocal Rider or compression to do their thing. There's nothing better than listening and adjusting each word or phrase as opposed to setting parameters on a tool and trusting it works the best over the entire track. Don't get me wrong, use those tools, but first do the manual adjustments.

Manually adjusting the vocal gain phrase by phrase, (not automation) is much better than any compression tool or Vocal Rider. (This part isn't about gain stage) Its event based volume envelope. I’m mixing a few vocalists who have a massive dynamic range and I just tried Waves Vocal Rider today and found it did a good job of levelling the vocals.ĭoes anyone here use Vocal Rider of this type of method for levelling vocals?Īre there anything better vsts than Vocal Rider for levelling vocals?Skip to 9:29.
